Short version: no accounts, no cookies, no ad trackers. Here's exactly what happens with your data when you use Ridgeline.

Location search

When you search for a place, what you type is sent to OpenStreetMap's Nominatim, a public third-party geocoding service, to turn it into coordinates. That request goes directly to them under their own usage policy. Ridgeline doesn't store your searches.

Elevation data

Once you've picked a place, the elevation lookup that builds your plot is served from Ridgeline's own infrastructure - no third party is involved in that step. The coordinates and render options you choose (palette, font, zoom, etc.) are sent to our API to generate the preview image and aren't stored beyond what's needed to serve that request.

Analytics

Ridgeline uses Umami, a self-hosted, cookieless analytics tool. It doesn't use cookies, doesn't fingerprint you across sites, and doesn't share data with any ad network - it's just us checking traffic and which features get used. We track anonymous events for things like: which palette/font/aspect ratio you picked, when you toggle an option or reset to defaults, and when a location falls outside our high-resolution elevation coverage (with the coordinates searched, so we know where to prioritise adding better data). None of this is tied to your name, email, or any other identifier - Umami has no concept of a signed-in user here because there isn't one.

Contact email

If you email [email protected], we obviously see your email address and whatever you send us. We use it to reply to you and for nothing else.

Cookies

Ridgeline doesn't set any cookies.

When checkout goes live

Ordering a physical print isn't live yet. Once it is, this policy will be updated to cover whatever payment and fulfillment processors are involved, and what order data they need (shipping address, payment details - handled by them, not stored by us).
